Hi Everyone, here is the tip from Shape magazine:
"It's at the top of many people's New Year's resolutions list: Stop snacking! Now researchers have found a great trick that will help you cross that one off, pronto. In a study at the Universityof Southern California, Los Angeles, participants were given popcorn to nibble on as they watched a movie and were told which hand to eat with.
Those who used their non-dominant hand ate 30 percent less than those who didn't. 'Switching sides disrupts that unconscious hand-to-mouth pattern,'says lead researcher David Neal, Ph.D. 'You slow down and realize the food isbad for you.' So next time you sit down to TiVo night, make sure to pick sides- your weaker one."
See you tonight at Cardio Kickboxing at 6:30 PM (2809 Talley Road).
Best to you in the new year!

"It's time to deep-six theold advice to guzzle eight glasses of water a day. Your fluid needs fluctuate based on what you eat, whether you exercise, the medications you take, and your climate. A more reliable sign of healthy hydration: urine color. As long as it's clear or pale yellow, you're good."

"70% of you set goals to get psyched. Be creative to stick to them. Rewards are great, but penalties can be an even stronger motivator. When setting goals, come up with a few punishments for missing your mark. Make a pack with a friend that the first one to blow off Kickboxing buys lunch Friday. You definitely won't skip a session!"

"The Breakfast That Keeps You Thin"
If you want your a.m. meal to help you into your stovepipes, make it high in protein - say, a cheese omelet or yogurt with nuts. Protein-packed breakfasts of about 500 calories were most effective at controlling hunger, reports a recent study.
